The North Central District is excited to welcome Jon Addington to our district team! Beginning June 1st, Jon will serve as a formal member of our staff, in the newly established role of NCD director for older adult ministry.

Our district has a cherished history of serving older adults in their encore years (55+). This ministry is centered in the local church, but also goes further to include Encore Events and a care home ministry called Elim Care (which is part of Cassia). In order to strengthen this ministry and equip local congregations to make disciples among older adults, we have invited Jon to serve in a unique, volunteer position on our team. His role is very flexible in scheduling and includes approximately 40 hours per month.

His ministry responsibilities will include many things such as:

– Equipping NCD congregations as they seek to make disciples and provide gospel-shaped care for older adults

– Providing leadership and direction for the Elim Care board, with a special focus on helping them understand and represent our convictions and ethos within Cassia

– Serving as the district representative on the Cassia Board (as the designee in the district superintendent’s board seat)

– Encouraging and assisting Elim Care chaplains as they reach the lost and shepherd the found at our care facilities

– Planning and overseeing “Encore” events for older adults in the NCD

– And like every other member of our NCD team, helping us care for and support NCD pastors and church leaders
