Sean McDowell

Sean McDowell has served as the Director of Church Planting and Leadership Development for the EFCA’s North Central District since 2026. He received Christ at a young age and has spent more than 30 years serving in pastoral and executive leadership roles, including a long tenure at Constance Free Church in Andover, MN, and as Director of the Church Evangelism Institute at the Wheaton College Billy Graham Center, IL. Sean holds an M.A. in Theological Studies from Wheaton College Graduate School, a B.A. in Christian Ministry from Trinity International University, and is ordained in the Evangelical Free Church of America. Sean and his wife, Heidi, live in Andover, MN, with their two children. Sean loves spending time with his family and taking part in new experiences. He is grateful to serve alongside our district team, as we serve pastors, church leaders, and churches.

As Director of Church Planting and Leadership Development, Sean serves as a pastor to pastors and other church leaders. He identifies, recruits, and places potential residents and lead pastors, equips church planters and sending churches, and cultivates pathways for church multiplication. Sean is also passionate about equipping and motivating pastors and congregations in evangelism.
