Prayer is essential for mission work.  James 5:13-18 talks about the “prayer of faith.” We are called to pray when we suffer. We are called to pray when we are sick. We are called to pray when we confess our sins to one another. The key verse here is James 5:16b, “The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working (ESV).” Ben Sawatsky used to pray, “Give us this day our daily bread.” Here are some specific ways you can pray for nations and missionaries in the month agead.

Pray for two nations:

India held their recent national elections. Pray for the new coalition of political parties as they work out details to govern this great nation. Pray for believers there.

Haiti, according to Mission Network News, has new country leaders. This is an important step in retaking the country back from gangs, who control at least 80% of the capital. There are 600 GlobalFingerprints children sponsored between three sites.

Pray for new missionaries raising their support:

There are six new ReachGlobal mission families from the North Central District and from the Northern Plains District, who are now raising support to get to the field. For security reasons, I am not going to list their names, but I am going to list where they will be serving.  If you’d like their contact information, you can contact me or contact ReachGlobal at 1-800-745-2202.
