No matter the season, vocational ministry can be challenging for marriages. In recent years, the normal challenges have been increased due to the cultural moment we find ourselves in. Based on the book Resilient Ministry, Donald Guthrie (Director of Trinity’s Center for Transformational Churches and author of Resilient Ministry) will lead and guide our time as we consider how to strengthen ministry marriages for a lifetime of service together.
“Pastors and their families wrestle with tensions that pull them between healthy and unhealthy approaches to life and ministry. The pandemic has revealed and accelerated these tensions that include relationships, identity, and ministry systems. How can Scripture illuminate our way? How can recent research inform our inquiry? Whether you are struggling or sustaining or even thriving, there is hope and encouragement for those who are serving God’s people. We will explore themes and practices that fuel sustainable pastoral service, consider the latest research on pastoral wellbeing, and discuss the ingredients of gospel healthy systems – including marriages, families, and churches.”
