In June, several of us had the privilege of attending EFCA One. It was a great conference with a strong emphasis on outreach. In one of the plenary sessions, a ReachGlobal missionary gave an inspiring message on the importance of missions in which he reminded us how important it is to reach the lost around the world. In the final session, acting EFCA president Carlton Harris had the entire conference pray out loud together for three people we know who need to hear the gospel. We prayed for opportunities to share Jesus, and the boldness to do so when the time arrived.

I was heartened to see the EFCA highlighting missions and placing great importance on reaching the lost at the national conference. The message of the gospel is one that the entire world needs to hear. The difference between rejecting and accepting Jesus is the difference between the condemnation we deserve, and the forgiveness freely given by the one who atoned for our sins through His death and resurrection.

Imagine if each of our churches would take one Sunday to pray out loud for three unbelievers in our lives like we did during those last minutes of EFCA One. What would it look like if we took to heart the call to reach the nations?

Each of us heard the truth of salvation in Jesus from someone else. Now we are commanded to take that message to others. As we enter the fall season of our ministries, let us remember how vitally important the message of the gospel is and look for ways to spread the good news to others, be that here in the mid-west, or on the other side of the world.
