On September 26th category 4 Hurricane Helene made landfall. Less than two weeks later hurricane Milton (thankfully downgraded from a category 5 to a category 3) also made landfall. ReachGlobal Crisis Response is looking for people willing to help in the aftermath. There are three ways your church can join them:
Pray
Please ask your congregation to pray for the response effort, specifically in these areas:
1) Pray for wisdom and discernment as Crisis Response partners with local churches in the areas affected by the hurricanes.
2) Pray that God would provide the staff, teams, housing, and resources for this response.
3) Pray for churches as they engage and care for their communities in the massive mission field created by the hurricanes.
4) Pray for God to open doors for gospel ministry in the areas affected by the storms.
Serve
To support the hurricane responses, Crisis Response REALLY needs people that can serve as either short or long term staff, and adjunct staff, those who can serve for a couple weeks at a time on a recurring basis. People such as early retirees, younger folks in between things, people in transition, or simply those called to the mission field that follows crisis. Please pray, and then ask specific individuals that come to mind to consider serving. Interested folks can email crisisresponse@efca.org for more information.
Give
Crisis response hopes to raise $500,000 for Helene response, and $250,000 for Milton. These gifts will help sustain a ministry presence to come alongside churches and homeowners as the recover. You can give online or mail a check designated to Hurricane Helen Response or Hurricane Milton Response to the EFCA national office.
